While I said on the last page that the 917Ks are a favourite, the one of the best slot cars to drive is the Fly Venturi. With a 7 gram lead weight square added to the nose and the magnet removed, the car really flies. Coupled with some fantastic liveries like the Tomb Raider pair, these cars look good and drive superbly.

As for new slot car drivers, I always start them off on the Porsche 911 GT3 cars, seen at the top of this page. These cars are about as good as you get "out of the box" requiring only a 7g addition of weight on wood - you can leave the magnet in if you want to, it makes no difference. The acceleration is incredible and the handling is top notch for such a seemingly skinny car. These cars can typically outperform anything you put up against it. If you can't beat someone with this car, you better practice some more. This car should qualify as the best slot car of the past five years in my book.
